ONE OF THE BEST
This SUV has surpassed all my expectations. Good fuel economy, comfortable ride, Has the power to tow a small holiday trailer on both flat road and hills.smooth ecceleration and very reliable, only had to replace a module which was 50 bucks new. 4wd works flawless, AC is a must nowadays and it has it .Great vehicle for a good price

Love me Explorer
It's an awesome vehicle. Perfect for a family on the go with hockey tournaments, camping trips, etc. And very stylish. Kids love the moon roof and the built in DVD players for those long rides. Seven passenger seating leaves lots of room to bring friends on our trips. Back seats fold down which is perfect for when we want to bring the dog.

Awesome, safe family vehicle
7 seat, great for carpooling, bringing the whole family wherever, whenever safely with comfort. Not great on gas but it moves as fast as you need it to. Has gone through a few brake shoes.

The Explorer is the SUV that started the craze
The Explorer is the SUV that started the craze—and it’s still a contender, with a premium interior that seats seven, high-tech features, and robust mechanicals. It’s standard with front-wheel drive and a 290-hp V-6; all-wheel drive is optional. Other powertrains include a 280-hp turbo four and a 365-hp twin-turbo V-6. The V-6 also offers a Sport model with all-wheel drive and a sport-tuned chassis. While the Explorer offers a quiet cabin and a solid ride, it somehow feels larger than it is.

It does the job very well
I love the simplicity of this vehicle..Have been using it for 2 years now and very little problems. Just basic maintenance and she will ride forever. Use premium brakes on the front and generic brakes on the back.. Buy it if you can...Cheers!!!

Great Luxury Car, Not so Great For Practicality
I've owned this car for over 10 years now. It looks great and has a beautiful leather interior. The problem is that in this time it has experienced what seems like a never ending stream of problems.

1998 Ford Explorer

Comfortable, family-oriented minivan alternative
The Ford Explorer started life as a rough and ready body-on-frame, Ranger-based rig with some off-road potential. Today, it’s a soft-roader that keys on comfort rather than tackling something more challenging than a gnarly cottage access road. The transformation means it is now a viable alternative to a minivan.

This fifth-generation, Taurus-based unitized-body now arrives with three rows of seating. The first two rows live up to expectations with lots of comfort and space — the third row is like most in the segment, meaning tight and very much for the kids. There’s no issue with the available cargo space; with all rows up it offers 595 litres, or lower the power third row for 1,243L. With all rows folded there’s 2,314L of space and a reasonably flat floor.

Up front, the Explorer is pleasantly crafted, with decent materials and all the modern conveniences; the Limited brings leather upholstery, heated/cooled front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, power tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, power pedal adjustment, a 12-speaker Sony sound system and Ford’s Sync 3 with an eight-inch touchscreen. The latter, when compared to previous versions, is faster, the clarity is better and it is intuitive, so accessing all functions is a simple task.

I love my explorer
I have had this vehicle since 2008, its an Eddie Bauer special, it has been great for transporting both people and helping move numerous things the capacity is great, very comfortable ride, leather seats - will hold onto it until it dies on me - my only complaint is the mileage but then its a large vehicle so it is to be expected.

You know that the Continental is something special when you first approach it. The LED lighting in the lower front body and taillamps subtly light up. A luminous Lincoln welcome mat appears beneath the front doors and the interior lights illuminate the cabin.

It's old but it goes
It is a beater now, but in its day it was a goodie. The roof leaks, it blows heat inside. Door handles are going and so is the automatic lock. It also squeaks like crazy when it is hot. But it gets us from point a to point b.

Reliable
I've owned the Explorer for several years. It was perfectly sized and powered with options suitable for my personal and business use. Comfortable seating for 4 and I've used all 7 seats many times. Long trips to Florida or to the cottage with the entertainment package is a great feature. The 4 wheel drive is obviously great in the winter months. Pulling a trailer with a V8 made it easy. Very satisfied and glad to have owned one.

Fair, but buyer beware
I owned this model for almost 4 years, and while it did the duty I required of it, the quality and durability of it is suspect. For one, I had the front bushings replaced 4 times - this vehicle was never taken off-road, but regularly went over speed bumps which seemed to do the damage (even at proper speeds). It was essentially babied, especially after the 2nd replacement. Power was good, but you pay at the pump. Space was tremendous, but you pay at the parking lot. HUGE blind spots on the A-pillars such that I "lost" pedestrians crossing the street legally on several occasions resulting in very near misses. Outward visibility isn't terribly good. Headlights are very poor, especially in the rain where they get completely washed out. Fuse panel is inaccessible with the door of the panel screwed in, needing a Phillips head. It's buried in the foot well below the steering wheel and even once opened the fuses are deeply recessed making essentially useless. The MFT interface update process was a joke, required either a stop at the dealer (at a cost) or mutli-step process to update (one must use a couple of USBs - one for version verification, one for the update). Seats were comfortable but the foot well requires one to sit slightly to the right as the tire well intrudes, a fairly comfortable and planted ride.

Reliablel, veicle that is well built by Ford
We bought it with low miles, and extended new car warranty to the max allowed by Ford. It gave us peace of mind and ride. some minor malfunction with rear wiper motor, but this was replaced under warranty

The SUV was purchased from Ed Learn Ford in St Catherines. Very happy with it performance and everything works fine.

Ford Explorer
This vehicle is very very well maintained. It drives like a dream. I used to own a Ford Escape and I thought it was a very good vehicle. I now own this Explorer and am being very honest if you drive an Escape and you drive the Explorer you will never buy an Escape. The ride and the handling of the Explorer is exceptional. A used Explorer is the way to go and with the Canadian dollar being so low I suspect that to buy a 2016 with the options that this one has is in the $60,000 - $65,000 range. With this vehicle you have virtually no costs for the next 4 years or 160,000 km

Not a bad vehicle but issues with quality
I am pleased with the overall performance of my explorer however I had issues with paint on hood bubbling and cracking and the driver side arm rest splitting. Both were not covered under warranty by Ford even though I was just over the 60,000km mark. The attention to detail on the interior and craftsmanship is very poor and when i compare it to my 2008 Acadia the GMC blows it away in all aspects. First time and last time ford owner here!
