Great Quality Pickup Truck
i bought my Dodge Dakota used. It had a few dings and scrapes but it as never ailed anything. I have ran it year round on gravel roads and I have yet to have a single complaint. Definitely would buy this model again, new or used.

Love my truck
I would take this truck anywhere, great cab space, towing capacity and fits a family of 5 :) The v6 motor is strong enough to get things done without breaking the bank on the cost of fuel for daily driving. Even for my year of the truck 2000 with 130K on it I feel I still have lots of life left in the it.

AMAZING TRUCK 3.9 L motor very very reliable :0
I have owned this truck for a few years now. it currently has 250kms on it . the motor is still running like it is bran new. I wouldn't trade it for the world that's how much I love this thing.

It's great for hauling & moving . I own a small landscaping company and it gets used more then the big diesel that's how reliable this thing is .

Fun to own
Love driving the truck and have gone on many adventures with it. I have gone on trails made for a 3 wheeler . The Dakota was able to handle these trails. Maybe slower then a 3 wheeler but still performs. I have also taken trails in the winter and was nicely supersized at the situations this truck could get out of. I have used the Dakota to pull my tent trailer and it is one of the bigger models and it handled great. The only issue I have had is the brakes need to be change a bit more then usual.

This truck is a smaller version of the Dodge Ram. Still has lots of space in the cab.. Vehicle came with soft cover cab cover but would prefer hard cover. Fuel economy is lacking but for a bigger vehicle does fine.

Amazing Ride
Comfortable, good handling, reliable. People still give comments on her. With the modified exhaust, people say she sounds badass, I have to agree. Such a sleeper truck...with the 318 Magnum, it definitely has "pickup"

Very solid and dependable fuel efficient vehicle
The only repair required was a new radiator and water pump. Fuel economy is good, oil changes were done every 5k. We bought it from a dealer and it was brought up to spec before the purchase. This vehicle has a tow package, but we did not use it for pulling a trailer.

Always reliable, and really appreciated its functionality living on a small acreage just outside the city. The 4x4 came in handy when needed!

Truck has been extremely reliable for me. Fuel economy is not to great compared to your average car, but better then heavy duty trucks. No complaints about about performance on the highway or in city.

1999 Dodge Dakota

Approaching 350,000km, This is really great truck.
The Dakota does everything that the so-called full size 1/2 ton pickup trucks do, but in a much less bulky form, and you don't need a ladder to get into it! I've had my 1999 Dakota for 5 years. it was an impulse buy, due to past experience and losing my company vehicle.I bought it with 278,000 km on it and now it has over 330000. I think it will make it past 500,000 km easily. Mechanically the truck is perfect. The body not so good. I am retired, and I use it off road quite a lot to gather in firewood for the wood burning stove that heats my house in winter and I load it heavily each trip, right up to the cab roof line. Never even a hic-up. Over rough terrain and deep snow, it handles great. On the road it is a little stiff in the suspension, but hey with 4x4 you expect that! The truck has plenty of power and the 5.2 engine /318 cu in is bullet proof. Why they changed it to the 4.7 in 2000 is a puzzle. My son has a 2000 and it does not outperform my truck, though it runs well it get poorer gas economy. This is my second Dakota (first one was a 1993) and if they still made them in this body style, I would be buying a new one. Whenever I'm finished with this one, which may be awhile!
GO DODGE!

Reliable Mid-Size
Never had any real problems with this truck. Had to replace very minor things such as a oil gauge switch and refrigeration line. Truck never broke down on me, and made it from Edmonton to Kitchener without any problems at all. I would suggest a Dakota for some one looking for towing smaller trailers or other things in the bed. The only reason I got rid of this vehicle was because of the deal I got on the Ram I purchased. Great truck and I will miss it.

Gas Guzzler
I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad Cab. It's a 4x2 with the 3.7L v6 engine. First and for most this vehicle eats gas like it's going out of style. I get about 14L/100KM, and that is mostly highway driving. Those are dreadful numbers. Today's HEMI engines get the same or better mileage, producing more power, pushing a MUCH bigger truck. The truck is rated to tow 4500LBS, and when towing a trailer it gets MUCH worse mileage. With my 3000LB trailer (well within the trucks tow capacity), cargo and passengers, i get approximately 23L/100KM. Again, much worse that a HEMI, and since it's only a 70L tank, that means stopping every 250-300 KM for gas...making very long trips!

The truck looks great and has a very beefy quality that you don't see in the other mid size trucks. The SLT is very bare bones in terms of fit and finish. The truck has given me few real problems, however, things are starting to wear and break down and after 8 years the truck has rusted through over the rear passenger side wheel well, and is beginning to rust under the paint in other locations as well. Not what one would expect from an 8 year old car. My wife's 10 year old Corolla still shows no rust.

The engine has been solid, with the exception of the aforementioned mileage, but seriously struggles going up hill under load (ie towing).

Simply put, the truck cannot match the power, performance and, believe it or not, price of the full size RAM trucks. All in all, a nice looking, fairly reliable vehicle that is underpowered (in it's 3.7L spec), glutinous and over priced. It's no wonder Dodge discontinued it.

Car is fantastic to drive and tow. The Crew cab makes it good and roomy when you need to transport people as well. The fuel economy is not very good in the city but on the highway I average about 12 L/100km.

Best pick up I have ever owned.
This is an extremely reliable truck & with the V-8 and great suspension, handles like a sports car but has the versatility of a truck. Wife loves it because it is easy to handle and so easy to park. Dodge made the Dakota so good, I really don't know why Dodge stopped making them in 2010. I suspect the high sales volume of the Dakota interfered with the 1500's & up. It is a 4 X 4 and flat tow-able. Few domestics are. It is an awesome truck.

Was my dream truck....
Ordered it new, and when I sold it 5 years later with less than 180000 km on it, it had over $7000 worth of warranty work done, the two disasters both being around midnight and stranding me on highways in winter...... pre cell phone era....
Loved it, planned to keep it forever..... complete disaster; as was the many arguments to get the work done under warranty , the tranny took 7 weeks to replace !!
